From the story I heard on the news it seems the offender boarded the other
one after the final whistle as the injured one was going off the ice and
then stood there and taunted him.  That is, the prosecutor was very clear
this was outside the realm of an accident or even "normal" goon tactics on
the ice.  If so, while it may put a pall over hard hitting players, I think
the prosecution is a good one.
