Dear Burt Hatlen: If it's not inappropriate to do so, would you please post the attached query to the Pound discussion group? I would really appreciate your help. --------------------------------------------------------- Dear Pound scholars: You are probably familiar with the following Pound quote: "The real meditation is... the meditation on one's identity. Ah, voil` une chose!! You try it. You try finding out why you're you and not somebody else. And who in the blazes are you anyhow? Ah, voil` une chose!" I want to use this quote in a chapter I've written on "Media and Identity Development" (to be published by Sage in a new "Handbook on Children and the Media"). I encountered the quote on the web, and I just haven't been able to find a "standard" citation for it. If you know the reference for this quote, I'd be extremely grateful if you let me know it. I'm not on this list - please write me directly at [log in to unmask] Thanks for much for any help you may offer, - Michael Morgan -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ - Michael Morgan [log in to unmask] Dept. of Communication phone: 413 545 4314 fax: 413 545 6399 UMass/Amherst MA 01003 USA www-unix.oit.umass.edu/~mmorgan ------------------------------------------------------------------------ - X-SMTP-From: [log in to unmask] X-SMTP-To: [log in to unmask] Received: from mailhub.oit.umass.edu (mailhub.oit.umass.edu [128.119.175.4]) by voyager.umeres.maine.edu with SMTP id MSGWCAAR; Sat, 23 Oct 1999 04:04:58 GMT Received: from lessing.oit.umass.edu by rfd1.oit.umass.edu (PMDF V5.1-12 #29083) with ESMTP id <[log in to unmask]> for [log in to unmask]; Fri, 22 Oct 1999 09:28:24 -0400 (EDT) Received: (from mmorgan@localhost) by lessing.oit.umass.edu (8.9.3/8.9.3) id JAA10081 for [log in to unmask]; Fri, 22 Oct 1999 09:28:23 -0400 (EDT) Date: Fri, 22 Oct 1999 09:28:23 -0400 (EDT) From: Michael Morgan <[log in to unmask]> Subject: Pound query To: [log in to unmask] Message-id: <[log in to unmask]> MIME-version: 1.0 X-Mailer: ELM [version 2.4 PL25] Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: QUOTED-PRINTABLE
