Tuesday, October 5, 1999 HOCKEY EAST ALL-DECADE TEAM ANNOUNCED Maine Dominates Dream Team of the 90's Boston, MA -- Six players from the University of Maine dominate the Hockey East All-Decade Team of the 1990's, which was announced today at the league's Media Day at Boston's FleetCenter. The Black Bears' prominence in the selections made by league head coaches comes as no surprise as Maine captured two national championships and two Hobey Baker awards during the decade. Heading the list are three Maine forwards, two of whom won college hockey's most prestigious individual honor. They are Paul Kariya, the 1993 Hobey winner; Scott Pellerin, the 1992 wInner; and Jim Montgomery, the main architect behind Maine's first NCAA title in 1993. Other Hobey Baker winners among the honorees are Boston College forward David Emma (1991), Boston University forward Chris Drury (1998), and University of New Hampshire forward Jason Krog (1999). Closing out the sextet from Maine are defensemen Chris Imes (the leading vote-getter in the ballotting) and Keith Carney, and goaltender Garth Snow. These defenders are joined by Boston College defenseman Greg Brown, Northeastern University defenseman Dan McGiiiis, and UMass Lowell netminder Dwayne Roloson. Eight of the selectees were recipients of Player of the Year honors. They are Brown (1990), Emma (1991), Pellerin (1992), Kariya (1993), Roloson (1994), Chris Imes (1995), Chris Drury (1997 and 1998), and Krog (1999). The only Player of the Year not chosen to the All-Decade squad was 1996 winner Jay Pandolfo of Boston University. His competition?
