From what I can gather from messages on USCHO and Hockey-L, if you didn't mail your ticket application by the time they played the 1999 NCAA National Championship game, you were either wait-listed or got the "Dear John" letter. While I was in Anaheim, I picked up a brochure on the hotel/ticket packages for Providence. Even though I live in Massachusetts, within an hour's drive to Providence, I kept the brochure "just in case" something like this happened (given the PCC capacity, I thought that it was possible to get shut out, even at this early date). When I found out that my boyfriend got his "dear John" letter, I decided to call these folks and check to see if they had any packages left. As of today, they are still selling these hotel/ticket packages (ranging in price from $325-425 for three nights hotel and all-session tix per person double occupancy), so I gave them my information. They require a $50 non-refundable deposit per person to hold your reservation, with balance due 45 days before the event (February, 2000). I'm just putting this out there as an possible alternative in case anyone is interested. I know it's expensive, but it does include three nights hotel (choices include the Westin, which is right next to the arena, as well as the Marriott, the NCAA HQ hotel for the tournament). We made our Anaheim arrangements through these people, and we got GREAT seats to the '99 Frozen Four! The name of the company is World Tek Travel, and their phone number is 800-243-1723. Their web address is http://www.worldtek.com. Hope this helps!
