Tony Buffa asks: > I know in roundball a team must sit out several years after becoming D-I > to be eligible for the big dance. If the MAAC teams (or most of them > anyway) are eligible now ... are the rules diff for D-I hockey? Five of the MAAC teams (Holy Cross, UConn, Canisius for sure and I suppose Iona and Fairfield as well) have been playing D1 hockey for years, but were in D2/3 conferences and didn't so play enough D1 games to qualify. So their probation is long over. Quinnipiac is the one newcomer, having just finished their probation. I believe the NCAA has said pretty explicitly that these six teams are eligible.
