The Tacoma Sabercats have signed 26 year old goalie Blair Allison for
the 1998-99 season. Coach John Olver has high hopes for him. "We think
we've got a guy with tremendous up-side potential. We think he's ready
for a break through season."
Blair earned all-American honors while playing with the Unversity of
Maine Black Bears where he was a teammate of Dan Shermerhorn. In the
1994-95 season he went 36-6-6 with a 2.68 goals against average. He went
on to help the Black Bears win the NCAA title. The native of Golden
B.C. was the #1 goalie for Team Canada during the 1996-97 season. Last
year he played in the ECHL for Tallahassee and Jacksonville. He's also
played with Kim Maier who had a hand in his recruitment.
Allison, 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds, is known as a classic-style, stand up
goaltender.
