The author's family name is Kodama (no -s). I reviewed this book for <American Studies> in 1986 (vol.
27: 134), though I no longer remember what I said about it. Also, I lent the book to a grad student
years ago and never got it back. (So it goes.)  But  I can dig out the review, if you like. Shall I?
