North Dakota won the title in 1987...at the end of the 86-87 season. They beat the Spartans at the Joe amidst a very hostile "home" crowd. Minnesota took 3rd place over Harvard. ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Re: Beanpot opinions, comments -- ANYONE? North Dakota also won in 1986, when Michigan State and Minnesota were at Joe Louis Arena, and RPI in 1985 for other winners from the majority entrants; more prevalent than the minority team winning is that a western team wins whenever there is an uneven distribution (RPI being the only exception in five 3-1 Final Fours). On the other, I meant 1992 in Albany; that's when the four teams were all western and Lake State beat Wisconsin in the final. J.
