I think the important thing to remember is that Coach Walsh brought a national championship to Maine and proved that one year was enough college for the Ferraros and certainly Maine gets enough mention everytime one thinks of Paul Kariya. Some faculty types might get upset- but this is about sports. This was Maine's finest moment as a university other than when it won the 1965 Yankee Conference football title and went to the Tangerine Bowl and had a player go to the NFL. As to BU- they have eliminated football and ultimately will rue the day they ended a 91 year tradition (SI got Pres. Silber good) BC- great place- how can anyone knock Flutie- he played hockey and was told he was too small and then became a quarterback and is now in Canada (where they limit Americans- unlike here- where heck they can all come- and he is still winning Grey Cups or whatever they do in that 3 down league where it snows in August. Eliminate the academic requirements and level the playing field! Think of the hypocrisy that would end. (On a serious note- has anyone ever thought about the time D! athletics consumes and how unrealistic it is to expect the players to be real students) Dump Silber- bring back football!
