Union may indeed have a platoon in store for themselves. I never would have imagined it possible with Koenig's play last year. But, I imagine it is in coach Moore's best interest not to give all the playing time to a graduating senior like Koenig. I saw Shtrom play when Union was at Lowell and although he lost, he looked real good. Coach Moore said he was playing Shtrom because it was a non-league game. He professes that for every game, he tries to put the best team on the ice. This is when I first got an inkling that Koenig might be sitting more than I had expected. He also disputed the possible notion someone might have that Shtrom's playing time was some kind of "head-game" Moore was trying to spin on Koenig. Although, that may be just the effect it has ( ... and I'm sure Moore wouldn't mind). After the Lowell game, it sounds like Koenig stepped up his play against Vermont and Dartmouth. I know he faced close to 40 shots in both games. He let up four in the game against Dartmouth .. anyone know if he was beaten cleanly or could have been faulted for any of them. Its all moot because Dartmouth's Almon was stoning Union at the other end anyhow. That's another story ... will Jason Wong be manning the nets for Dartmouth soon? Almon looked good against Union but his play up until then hadn't looked like he was Dartmouth's only choice. Just curious if anyone has a better feed on this.
