The Red Raiders came into West Point off a highly publicized win at Michigan. The Black Knights had beaten D2 Findlay (twice) the second game was close. Army lost 8 lettermen and is rebuilding this year and skates only four seniors-one of whom has not lettered. My impression of Colgate was that they seemed to be a well coached prorotype ECAC team. Not particularly big; but quick; and smart. Army played smart and both teams did not take penalties. Colgate scored a power play goal about ten seconds into its only power play. Army was bolstered by the return of Andy Lundbohm an outstanding center with great skills and size. Lundbohm; Greg Buckmeier; and plebe Jon Toftey (all over 6' and 200 lbs) gave Colgate problems all evening. This was not an uneven game and I am sure the Red Raiders left West Point looking for a good night's sleep and were happy to escape with an OT win. Forward Dru Burgess had an excellent game. It was a pleasure to watch this game as real hockey was played and there were very little breaks in the action and the officiating was superb. Although Colgate's roster was loaded with Canadians- it was nice to see a good number of Yankees on their roster.
