the system used to have an elaborate allocation of tickets by class
standing for undergrads, and by school for grads (I remember one year
being in line and they came out and said "we have 10 medical school
tickets left...")

demand for tickets is down, so they made it a little bit easier this
year (plus they made it easier for groups of people split accross class
standing to get tickets together).

the current system is that juniors, seniors and grad students can get
tickets on monday, freshman and sophmores on tuesday (or maybe it was
wednesday), and then anyone who missed getting tickets on "their day"
can get whatever is left over. I believe that they reserved enough
tickets for the underclassmen to keep things fair.
