I guess I should have made my own position clear in my proposal for a final
six.  I agree with Jeremy Hall that the best solution would be to go to the
old format of an eight team playoff.  This would usually mean 5 good teams, a
couple about .500 and one of the lower level (okay "bad") teams.  This seems
to be a just reward for the regular season, while putting the truely terrible
teams out of their misery as soon as possible.
  One question, did anyone get the reasoning behind why the ECAC is making
this change?  The only benefit I see changing is removing the Tuesday night
games that were very inconvienient to academics, coming as they did about
mid-semester.  Any other motives I see are all related to $, and if the ECAC
wants to be the EC$$, there are better ways to raise cash then adding a
couple more games in an extended playoff format (like that fancy new
invention called TV).
