1) Any word on the new D1 conference? SOMETHING should have been decided by now. 2) The more I think about the Empire Athletic Conference, the more I like it. If the EAC happens, does the ECAC reform with the remnants of the Ivy League (ok, Cornell joins the EAC) plus the small NE D1 schools?? 2a) If Cornell joins the EAC, some accomodation must be made for them to continue in the Ivy League. Assuming a 10 game Ivy schedule, that leaves not a heck of a lot of room for the Big Red to operate in. I was leaning to an CCHA - WCHA type schedule with more than 2 games against the rest of the league, but it won't work. 2b) If EVERYBODY joins, this is how the league would look (weekend pairs on the same line) RPI and Vermont Union and Colgate Clarkson and St. Lawrence Cornell and Elmira Iona and Army Niagara and Canisus. 2c) Playoffs would be the same as the ECAC, 7-10 in a playdown. Choice of final sites - Pepsi in Albany, Marine Midland in Buffalo, the War Memorial in Syracuse or Rochester. 2d) If you wanted, you could split the EAC into North and South with the first 6 schools in the North and the remainder in the South 3) The ECAC Dartmouth and Harvard UConn and Yale Brown and Holy Cross Princeton and ????????? Enough for now. May the 4th be with you. Joe HOCKEY-L is for discussion of college ice hockey; send information to [log in to unmask], The College Hockey Information List.
