Does this mean that it's OK for a hockey player to enroll at a school, not attend classes, and simply withdraw from those classes after not attending them (or not attending enough of them to pass)? Aren't student athletes supposed to be students in some meaningful sense? A few years back, the University of Maine had to forfeit a large number of games because it was discovered after the fact that Cal Ingraham was two or three credits shy of NCAA requirements (the registrar's office has made a mistake in posting credits when he transferred to UMaine from the Air Force Academy). If Dave Hendrickson's post is correct, LaCouture has zero credits from his first semester, but this apparently doesn't affect his eligibility. How long can this go on? Did LaCouture pass his second-semester classes? Did he attend them? Does anybody else wonder about this?
