Any opinions on who will/should win ECAC Coach of the Year honors this year? My money's on Dan Fridgen of RPI. I think Union's Stan Moore deserves it, taking a team that didn't even make the playoffs last year, and has never finished higher than sixth, and putting them in position to challenge for a home playoff berth. But I think he won't get it, for the same reason that Cornell's Mike Schafer didn't get it last year. Plus, I think Moore has to share a lot of the credit with Trevor Koenig. Schafer has arguably done more with less this year than last, but he had a much better year to build on than Moore or Fridgen. I still think what he deserves is *last* year's COTY. Of course, the next two weekends, and especially Cornell's games this weekend in the Capital District, will have a big impact on who gets the nod. It may just go to whoever's team finishes higher, Fridgen or Schafer. Moore's best chance is probably for Union to catch Vermont for fourth place. I think the one safe bet is that Joe Marsh will not repeat. ;-) John Whelan, Cornell '91 <[log in to unmask]> <http://www.cc.utah.edu/~jtw16960/jshock.html> Cornell Men's Ice Hockey: 1996-7 Ivy League Champions WE WANT MORE!
