Thought everyone might be interested in the following tidbits.... Cornell fans, especially, should note that Phoenix has recalled goalie Parris Duffus from the minors. Parris had a great sophomore season, then left Cornell early, really setting back the team. I hope he gets a shot to show some things. Also ... here's the URL of a good story on women's hockey -- specifically, Providence vs. UNH -- in the New York Times of all places... http://www.nytimes.com/yr/mo/day/news/sports/hkc-women.html Finally --- No one else probably noticed. ... but the Philadelphia Daily News recently named Travis Roy as its Sportsman of the Year. I found this to be very odd. This is nothing against Travis, and it's a well-done piece, but the tragedy happened over a year ago, and there have been other players to suffer similar fates since, just as worthy as the heroism tag. Not to mention that this is a newspaper that NEVER even mentions a college hockey score. It seemed to me like a big-time ploy to capitalize on tragedy to make themselves look good. A grandstand play, if you will. Again no offense to Travis meant at all ... but it just seemed a bit hypocritical of the Philly Daily News. Any thoughts?
