Dave, thanks for your input. In regards to the policy on incompletes, does the NCAA share BU's views. Some people on the mailing list and on the USCHO bulletin board have speculated that the "personal reasons" are because of poor grades. I can't imagine the NCAA looking kindly upon a student-athlete that has five incompletes from his first semester of eligibity regardless of the reason. >>> Dave Hendrickson <[log in to unmask]> 12/23/96 08:04am >>> But that's an inference that you're making that USCHO didn't. He has indeed left BU "for personal reasons." That much is fact. Whether he plans on coming back is still very much up in the air. And according to BU, he will be eligible to play next semester if he re-enrolls as a full-time student. In Lacouture's case, he is aided by BU's policy for all students regarding incompletes. They have a year to complete the coursework and get the "I" changed to a real grade. This means that if Lacouture took incompletes (and I can't imagine what else could have happened), he has until next fall to deal with that. At some schools it is more like 6-8 weeks, in which case a student-athlete in Lacouture's situation would have more problems on his hands. ----------------------------------------------- Dave Hendrickson [log in to unmask] Hockey East writer for US College Hockey Online http://www.uscollegehockey.com HOCKEY-L is for discussion of college ice hockey; send information to [log in to unmask], The College Hockey Information List.
