After receiving several letters about my Big 10 post, I just wanted to make a few clarifications. One, I fully support WCHA teams playing more non-league teams. Two, by smaller schools I was referring to both the enrollment and the division of the other athletics (i.e. DIV II in everything but hockey would be a small school). My big fear is that if a Big 10 conference was built that the teams in the conference would opt not to play the smaller schools for the non-league games, but instead concentrate those games for the big named schools not in the league. Where would this leave teams such as Mankato St. or UND? The great thing about college hockey is the small schools are GUARENTEED a shot to play against the "big guys". Finally, judging by the letters pro and con on this subject, those who attend the "larger" schools seem to be in support of the idea, while those of us at smaller schools are not....interesting... - http://www.aero.und.edu/~cbell Get the NEW NIN song here!!!!! - HOCKEY-L is for discussion of college ice hockey; send information to [log in to unmask], The College Hockey Information List.
