Agreed...I understand the point SteveB was trying to make, but felt it could have been done in a better way. If I were the official mentioned, I wouldn't be happy to see my name in connection with an incident that never occurred. > The referees have a responsibility (I'll repeat that for my friends Bill > Beagan, Dave Fisher and Jeff Weiss) -- THE REFEREES HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY -- > to protect the better players in the league. I'll only add that they actually have a responsibility to protect all of the players, not just the better ones. But in the end, no matter how poorly a game may be officiated, that's still no excuse for some of the infractions that players occasionally commit. No referee forces a player to hurt another. --- --- Mike Machnik [log in to unmask] *HMM* 11/13/93 ***** (Part-Time) Color Voice of Merrimack Hockey WCAP 980 AM ***** ***** Unofficial Merrimack Hockey home page located at: ***** ***** http://www.tiac.net/users/machnik/MChockey/MChockey.html ***** >>> U.S. College Hockey Online http://www.uscollegehockey.com/ <<< HOCKEY-L is for discussion of college ice hockey; send information to [log in to unmask], The College Hockey Information List.
