A Question open to all.

What is the definition of the Plus-Minus rating?

I know (always be wary of what you know) that a player gets a +1 when his
team scores a goal when he is on the ice and a -1 when the other team scores
while he is on the ice. How do power-play and penalty killing situations
effect the stat?

Any help would be appreciated. Feel free to corect my knowledge from above.

"I don't get along little doggy. I don't even get one that's small.
I don't get a long little doggy. I don't get no doggy at all."
