Ziggy was cut midway through last season as a result of violating team rules. Tim Hirsch transferred to UMass, I believe, where he will be eligible after sitting out a year and hopes to get more playing time. He was a walk-on from the JV team last season. Jim Sapienza was in the same situation and I believe transferred to DivIII Plattsburgh State midway through last season. I'm not sure where Jon Duggan and Sean Sweeney ended up (two more JV walk-ons from last year who are also not on the roster this year). Please understand that the fact that I said "I don't know" in response to your question should not be taken as an implication that Claudio did lose his scholarship. As I said, I truly don't know. I am strongly inclined to think he didn't lose it, but I can't be certain. BTW, a reminder, WCAP 980 AM out of Lowell, Mass. will have coverage of the Merrimack at Colgate and Union games this weekend. Air time is 7:15 Friday and 6:45 Saturday, times ET. It looks like I will probably work color both nights, as one member of the rotating three-man broadcast team likely cannot make the trip this weekend. Since I leave for NY in about an hour, there will be no boxes/writeups from this corner for a few days. --- --- Mike Machnik [log in to unmask] *HMM* 11/13/93 ***** (Part-Time) Color Voice of Merrimack Hockey WCAP 980 AM ***** ***** Unofficial Merrimack Hockey home page located at: ***** ***** http://www.tiac.net/users/machnik/MChockey/MChockey.html ***** >>> U.S. College Hockey Online http://www.uscollegehockey.com/ <<< HOCKEY-L is for discussion of college ice hockey; send information to [log in to unmask], The College Hockey Information List.
