Everyone that knows me knows what a numbers geek I am and that one of my favorite topics is Michigan hockey stats. I often compile UM career stats to look for upcoming milestones, particularly among the seniors. I'll occasionally bore the rest of you with some of the numbers. For now, here are some *unofficial* career numbers for Michigan's well known senior class. NO POS NAME GP G A PTS PIM PP SH +/- 9 C Brendan Morrison 123 75 139 214 125 23 2 73 18 F John Madden 129 62 78 140 75 14 19 82 19 LW Jason Botterill 118 73 63 136 393 35 0 52 28 RW Warren Luhning 125 56 72 128 318 24 6 81 15 F Mike Legg 129 44 67 111 76 13 2 58 6 D Harold Schock 132 10 53 63 181 4 0 99 27 D Blake Sloan 129 10 48 58 183 2 0 90 4 D Chris Frescoln 70 2 17 19 135 0 1 46 5 D Peter Bourke 64 2 12 14 38 0 0 41 If you're wondering about UM's junior class, beyond the goaltending of Marty Turco and Gregg Malicke, look no further. NO POS NAME GP G A PTS PIM PP SH +/- 16 RW Bill Muckalt 90 55 51 106 107 20 0 49 8 F Matt Herr 88 37 27 64 124 8 5 39 26 D Chris Fox 39 1 12 13 28 0 0 26 Of note: Michigan's all-time scoring leader is Denny Felsner with 261 points. Morrison should threaten that mark as the season wears on. Madden's next SHG will be his 20th. Now that DQ's go in the books as 10 PIM, Botterill has an outside chance at Chris Tamer's record of 515. Here's hoping that he DOESN'T break it. I doubt that you can find a class with a higher fifth leading scorer than Mike "the goal" Legg. Schock and Sloan's career stats are eerily close. (Shades of Alan Trammell and Lou Whitaker at this point in their careers if you're a Tiger fan.) Shock is about to go +100. Very cool. Lastly, when will people (the media) finally take notice of Bill Muckalt? He probably has the best shot of getting 100 career goals among all those mentioned above, and it's conceivable that he'll leave Michigan with more points than any of the above save Morrison. Love ya, Bill. Non-UM notes: For those of you scoring at home, the CCHA record for goals (in league games) by a defenseman is 36 by BGSU's Scott Paluch. Unofficially, I have FSU's Andy Roach at 29 and BGSU's Kelly Perrault at 27 through Sunday. Fwiw...with apologies to BGSU's Curtis Fry, my three leading CCHA Hobey hopefuls are Madden, Morrison and Roach.
