Well, I was just reading one of local paper here in St. Lawrence County
(Watertown Times) and it was released by SLU that goalie Clint Owen was
suspended by Coach Joe Marsh for the first half of this season...they
said only that the undisclosed violation was against team policy and no
more. This is truly a bad sign for SLU fans as Owen was the team's
mainstay in goal against a great majority of the upper echelon
teams that SLU played last year. Owen complied a meager 9-9-1 record in
these games, but considering the records of the opponents he faced, one
could hardly complain. Likewise, Owen presided over SLU's first win
over Clarkson in over 3 years.

John Bracco has been named the team's #1 goalie and will presumably
start every game he is healthy for, as SLU's remaining goalie is the
mainly untested Eric Heffler. One can only hope that John Bracco's play
will be consistent over the first half of the season as he will, for the
first time in his stay at SLU, be the one and only starting goalie for
the team. The decreased pressure of competition for the position should
aid his play greatly. My one fear resides in the sad fact that in 5
tries Bracco could not gain a win against Clarkson and he will be asked
in only the second week of league play to attempt to gain his first win
against our arch-rivals.
