CC came out like gangbusters in the first outshooting the Calgary dinosaurs 18 - 7 in a period that was even more one sided than the stot total indicated. Unfortunately, they only came away with a 1 goal lead. Freshman sensation Toby Petersen started the season and his career with a beautiful waist high shot off a feed from the bottom of the circle by Scott Swanson just before the five minute mark. Chad Hartnell opened the margin to 2 just before the midway mark off a rebound during the first CC power play. CC was buzzing with several quality shots and a crossbar, but they did not score any more. Calgary cut the lead in half on a score ffom in close by an unmolested Jason Kryulak on a power play with just over a minute left. In the second, Calgary stepped it up and scored three times to take a 2 goal lead into the second intermission. CC did not look as crisp. The tigers made it interesting in the third when Aaron Karpan gtrabbed a loose puck in deep and slid it past the calgary netminder in the fourth minute. The crowd was into it, but calgary iced the victory by going up by 2 again 2 and a half minutes before it ended. The full box has been posted to the info-list thanks to the CC SID Dave Moross who copied it onto a floppy for me. It was a rough night for the officials as linesman Tim Swiador took a stick in the face and received a gash over his left eye. In the third, Referee Don Adam got crunched and went to the ice necessitating a visit from the trainers. charlie shub University of Colorado at Colorado Springs [log in to unmask] -or- [log in to unmask] http://chico.uccs.edu/~cdash (719) 262-3492 (fax) 262-3369 HOCKEY-L is for discussion of college ice hockey; send information to [log in to unmask], The College Hockey Information List.
