Add the Mansoff's to the list of brother tandems who have played for the University of Maine hockey team. Shawn Mansoff, younger brother of senior defenseman Jason Mansoff, has been added to the hockey roster according to the Bangor Daily News. Shawn, who is three years younger than his brother Jason, has never played on the same team with his brother at any level. "It'll be nice playing on the same team," said Shawn. "I'm very happy to be here. I've always wanted to go to college." Shawn, a winger for Fort McMurray in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, scored 25 goals in 37 games while playing for the Oil Barons. The Maine staff is toying with the idea of playing him on defense according to the BDN. "He's big and fast and he's a very good athlete," said Maine assistant coach Grant Standbrook. "It will be fun trying to mold him." The BDN also reports that the younger Mansoff is a good student and has already been certified by the NCAA Clearinghouse and the university. They also noted that he is on a partial scholarship. --- Deron Treadwell - [log in to unmask] Old Town, Maine
