While digging through some old boxes not log ago, I came across a bunch of the old NCAA college ice hockey guides. These were published by the NCAA every year and mostly included a recap of the previous season, team-by-team scores, rules, some statistical information and the rules. I'm sitting here with every year from 1965 through 1981, the year I believe the NCAA discontinued publishing the guide. I think I've got 1963 somewhere, too, but it's not in this stack. I've already been able to help Nathan Boyle with his research into the history of Bowling Green hockey. I'd like to extend that offer to anyone else, too. If you're looking for any old information, let me know and I'll be happy to research it. Also, last fall I mentioned that I was working on compiling a list of colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada that have teams either on the varsity or club level. With the College Hockey Guide finally appearing a few weeks ago and thanks to some helpful folks at various schools, this first draft of the list is about done. It includes over 400 schools and if you count the universities that have both a varsity and a club team, such as Michigan and Michigan State, the total number of teams is nearly 450. (And it doesn't include to 40 or so Japanese colleges and the handful of English universities that have teams!) I'll correspond with Wayne Smith and see if we can post this in the archives in Maine once it's ready. Hope everyone is having a good summer. For those folks reading this on Hockey3, we've got a dozen schedules so far, so we have a jump on next year's composite schedule. +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ + Lynn Burke - Newport News, Va. + + - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - + + ``That's racing.'' -- noted philosopher Dale Earnhardt + +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ HOCKEY-L is for discussion of college ice hockey; send information to [log in to unmask], The College Hockey Information List.
