>Maybe that's true. But let's admit that Jefferson's Ben Clymer and Duluth >East's Dave Spehar, who had been considered two of the state's top >prospects this year, had already signed in the fall early signing period. Being a graduate of Jefferson high school and watching Clymer, both petersons, and others, I must say that next to Crowley, Toby Peterson has the best raw talent to make his own play whenever he wants. I like Dave Spehar, but he gets lucky too, as does every player. Spehar is valuable, but his occasional "cherry picking" style of play will not work in the WCHA. He will no doubt be valuable at the U though. Compaing Spehar and Toby Peterson.... I really think Toby can outskate him any day. That is a basis on seeing both players play each other and separately. Remember Toby against Hill-Murray in the 1993 final? People were raving about him as only a freshmen in high school. Back to the subject at hand.... I think Toby is making the right decision to leave early. He is not getting any better by playing high school hockey any more. Yes, he could go to juniors, but college is maybe a better and more competitive level for him.
