Someone posted that there should be little difference between a 5-hour bus ride and a 5-hour flight from Minneapolis to Alaska. CCHA schools travel by bus, and yes, some trips go several hours. But, we are used to it and there is no time change or jet lag on a bus. Fatigue and jet lag can become a factor during the FOLLOWING weekend of hockey. It can take a few to several days to recover from the trip. Just ask Western Michigan. They had a great season end with a trip to Alaska. Consequently, they came out flat for the first round of the CCHA Playoffs, and lost to BG. The question being, would you want to make the trip to Fairbanks during the final weeks of the regular season and then tell yourself that you'll be properly rested for the playoffs.
