Well, it would appear that sometimes there is truth to rumours! As
evidenced from a number of sources quoted by others on the list, it would
appear that NMU is attempting to go "home" to the CCHA.

After living in Marquette for four years and attending NMU, I believe
that NMU would be better off in the CCHA since I believe most of the fans
there still maintain a CCHA mindset. Example: during games, the P.A.
announcer typically annouces CCHA scores to the cheers and or moans of
the crowd. Clearly, this and the facts that NMU was an original member
of the CCHA, and plays against some member CCHA schools in other sports,
indicates a strong attachment remains with the CCHA and its member schools.

As for NMU's thoughts that it may help in recruiting students, I
believe that it couldn't hurt, but I also don't expect miracles.

As the unofficial NMU anti-fan, I would certainly miss my opportunities
to cheer against them during WCHA contests!

I view MTU differently than NMU since MTU is an original WCHA member and
has a long tradition with the WCHA. I don't know the mindset of the fan
base in Houghton but I would be very surprised if they pursued leaving
the WCHA.
