I can understand why you'd think so.  Precious little ever seems to appear
even in the Boston papers about Amherst; the chances of your finding anything
in the news in the Ithaca area are next to none.  It is frustrating in the
extreme to have a son playing for the Lord Jeffs and not even see the line
scores appear, much less an article.  HOWEVER, just to set the record
straight: the Amherst hockey team rebounded from a four-league-win season a
year ago to capture the ECAC East Division III title this March, and coach
Jack Arean was selected ECAC Division III Coach of the Year.
 
To make a better connection with the "names" thread, in Massachusetts when
you say "Amherst" the inevitable response is "Oh, you mean UMass!"  Mighty
frustrating, believe me.  Although located in the same small town, the
schools are as different as any two schools can be.  Imagine the level of
confusion if Amherst were Division I too!!
