In the April 22 Sports Illustrated's Scorecard section, there is an update on Travis Roy, complete with a photograph of Travis and his dog. While reading it, I noticed another section on the page about how Sacred Heart University in Connecticut has added 21 intercollegiate sports in the past six years to buck the trend of schools cutting back on intercollegiate sports. Hockey is one of them and the school competes in the ECAC South. Also mentioned is Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire, which is adding seven club sports for 1996-97 and hopes to upgrade them to the varsity level the following year. The ACHA just sent me their media guide for the past season and it shows Franklin Pierce as having a club team playing in the Northeast Collegiate Hockey Association along with MIT, Worcester Tech, Springfield College, etc. I wonder if hockey might be one of those sports added? Can anyone up that way check this out? +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ + Lynn Burke - Newport News, Va. + + - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - + + ``That's racing.'' -- noted philosopher Dale Earnhardt + +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ HOCKEY-L is for discussion of college ice hockey; send information to [log in to unmask], The College Hockey Information List.
