As a Bowling Green fan, I admit that in order to GUARANTEE themselves a spot in the tourny, BG failed to do what they needed to do. On the other hand, a late season sweep in the playoffs of a team that swept BG during the season and was in the top 10 (I'm talking about Western Michigan) showed (I believe) that BG deserved an at large bid. BG beat Michigan State at the end of the season when MSU had it all on the line and then went on to massacre Western in the playoffs, and to me, I think it showed that BG deserved a spot. I do understand the criteria where the conference tourny champions get a spot automatically and that is how Providence and Harvard got in and BG didn't. I just think it's sad to see that a team like BG who did what they did at the end of the season didn't get the chance to move on. It's in the past now and all I can say is wait til next year! Maybe the field should have been expanded to 13 teams for this season only ;-) Alex On Mon, 25 Mar 1996, Cheryl A.
