As many of you may know, two Lowell defensemen suffered injuries in the HE
semi-final against Maine which will serious hamper Lowell's post-season
efforts. Here's an update:

As stated before, senior David Mayes fractured a vertebrae in his neck and
is through for the season. Mayes initially planned on playing in the HE
consolation game against BU but started to feel "tightening" in his neck.
The coaching staff, feeling that the game was only a consolation game and
that a bid in the eastern regionals was already sewn up (silly them!),
told David to sit out and decided to get him X-rayed. The doctor's have
Mayes wearing a neck brace for six weeks.

Chris Libett, another of Lowell's better defenseman, broke a knuckle in
the same game and was initially thought to be through for the season.
Now, Chris is being fitted for a special cast which may allow him to play
against MSU this weekend.
