>To clarify, the host schools are always guaranteed they will be able to play at >home in order to maximize attendance at the Regional sites. Never say ALWAYS! Comley was specifically asked if MSU was guaratneed to be playing at Munn, and he said NO! He said it would be LIKELY, but if the committee determined that ticket sales were going good at the west regionals, then MSU *could* be sent to Albany. It all depended on money. >This led to the >"screwing" in 1994 when Lowell got sent West in order to accomodate RPI, the >#12, at the Albany Knick. Michigan State, I believe #11 overall at the time >also got to play at home and played at Munn Arena. RPI could have played at >the Knick this year, but didn't make it out of Burlington. :-( Again, DO NOT base too much on past performance. Each year is different, has different problems and needs. The committee's job is to come up with the best set up for this year. That may mean doing things slightly different than in the past. If I were a betting man, I'd place 20 bucks on the Spartans being in the West Regional. But don't bet your house, cuz you never know.
