Maine may not have to replace Allison next season. The NCAA, which is holding its convention in Dallas as we speak, is considering a resolution that would treat all hockey players the same with regard to eligibility. Proposal 59 would do away with the current rule that gives former junior hockey players only three years of eligibility if they played junior hockey past their 20th birthday and enrolled in college that same year. Last year the NCAA passed a resolution allowing hockey players over the age of 21 to have four years of eligibility. Proposal 59 seeks to make last year's resolution retroactive to Aug. 1, 1992. If Proposal 59 is passed, Allison, Marsh, and Reg Cardinal could return for Maine next season. The Bangor Daily News reported on Dec. 29 that according to Maine compliance director Tammy Light 14 schools sponsored Proposal 59. _____________________________________________________________________ Ryan Robbins "Nothing in fine print is ever good news."
