Geoff Howell pondered: > >BTW, can anyone else think of a team whose captain > >(Prescott Logan) didn't earn a varsity letter the > >previous year (putting aside people coming back > >from the Olympics, like Ted Drury)? To which jaysion Moy asnwered: > > Just one of the top of my head: (and correct me if I am wrong) > > Jaynen Rissling of UMass-Amherst > 3 time captain, with no team in his 1st year Nope, you're absolutely right, and I'm surprised I never thought of it. Rissling, along with alternate captains Mike Evans and Blair Wagar have held their titles for the past three years. Prior to that there was no UMass hockey team, so they clearly didn't win any letters. Hopefully, for their sake, the captains of the 1979 team (UMass' last) had graduated by then and openings abounded when the hodge-podge 1993-94 season was put together. Rissling, Evans and Wagar, all newcomers (sophomores athletically), were given C's and A's prior to the first game, and they have held them since.
