On the Union-Cornell game, It was commented that: >At 2:27 of the OT, Simonton was called for a >slash and Cornell had their 9th power play. Referees Joel Dupree and >especially Harry Ammian didn't hesitate to call anything all game, so >I guess no one should have been surprised that they'd call one in >overtime. The Union penalty kill had not gotten the job done all >afternoon, but they came through on this one. My personal opinion is that this analysis is incorrect. The referees allowed much to go uncalled the entire game, which led to things getting quite out of hand in the latter stages, with large amounts of extra-curricular activity. Numerous tackles, holds, and takedowns went uncalled throughout the game. The penalty in overtime was a little obvious with Simonton's stick in 2 pieces on the ice after his slash.
