It certainly wouldn't be as easy as in the East, yet it was also true that
during the interlocking schedule between the WCHA and HE, when each team
played each team from the other league once, HE teams played a traveling
partner-type schedule that had them meeting two different WCHA teams in a
weekend on the road.  I believe typical pairings were CC & Denver, Minn &
UMD, NoDak & Wisc, and NMU & MTU.
 
David Parter's suggestions seem to be good ones.  Since the WCHA already
has an unbalanced schedule, it would not seem to be that much of a stretch
to divide the conference for scheduling purposes at least, if Mankato and
anyone else is to come aboard.
