From the backwaters of Sault Ste. Marie (hard to argue with that point)... Lake State's enrollment is 3,500 in a town of 16,000. We are a long ways from anywhere (which is how most Yoopers like it) The U.P. is a hockey hotbed and Laker hockey has obviously been successful with 5 national championships (2 NAIA 1972 under Ron Mason & 74 with Rick Comely; 3 NCAA). The Lakers were immediate hit with NAIA runner-up finishes from '68 through '70.
