Deron Treadwell gave his usual fair and complete account of the game, but I have a couple of comments to add. As regular readers know I am dependent on the radio account which may be overly biased for BU. However, BU outshot Maine 37-17 and as described by the BU people this reflected the play. The reason why I'm posting is another issue raised by the BU people. All through the game, including when it was close, there seemed to be no atmosphere or electricity at Alfond. Even though Alfond generally provides a tough experience for the visitors even the BU people missed the cheering and anticipation. Also, the BU announcers stated that the crowd began leaving with 8 minutes left even though Maine was only down two. The BU crew, sincerely I think, said that the game certainly was not salted away at that point. Could it be that Maine fans expect domination and are nervous? I don't write this to gloat or cause bad feelings. I agree with Deron's earlier observation and memory that BU traditionally starts slowly and builds up steam. It is way to early to plan a funeral for Maine. Arthur Berman [log in to unmask] GO BU!!! NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!
