Without having seen them, I would be inclined to think that the difficulty of their schedule has played a part...only two teams in the nation have an OppWin% that is higher, and neither are from the CCHA. Look who they have played: >Miami CCHA > N 10/13/95 L 5 Maine 6 nc Gr W Frz Out (Los Angeles) > N 10/15/95 W 7 Boston College 1 nc Gr W Frz Out Cns (Anaheim) > H 10/20/95 L 3 Michigan State 6 > H 11/03/95 L 4 Vermont 7 nc > H 11/04/95 L 3 Vermont 4 nc > H 11/10/95 L 4 Michigan 5 > H 11/11/95 L 0 Michigan 8 > > GP W L T GF GA >OVERALL 7 1 6 0 26 37 >LEAGUE 3 0 3 0 7 19 Coming into this season, I thought Miami was probably a second tier team, not as good as the best but capable of playing with them. That they have done, except for the whitewashing by Michigan. Take away that game, and their overall GF-GA is 26-29. And almost all of their games have been against first tier teams. Not many other teams have had a more difficult opening set of games. Wait until they start to play the weaker teams. They'll be all right. BTW, the two teams whose OppWin% thus far is even higher than Miami's: UNH and Wisconsin. UNH is 3-2-2, Wisconsin 2-6-0. Like Miami, I don't think we have heard the last of the Badgers. Speaking of teams we may not have heard the last from... The RPI has Miami at number 23; the Redskins have the second worst record of any team in the top 30. The worst...#30 Merrimack (0-4-1). Only Princeton (#35, 0-3-0, .000) has a worse record than Merrimack, yet 14 teams rank below MC - one-third of Division I. We're only headed into the first turn...the homestretch is miles away at this point. --- --- Mike Machnik [log in to unmask] [log in to unmask] Cabletron Systems, Inc. *HMM* 11/13/93 ***** Unofficial Merrimack Hockey home page located at: ***** ***** http://www.tiac.net/users/machnik/MChockey/MChockey.html ***** HOCKEY-L is for discussion of college ice hockey; send information to [log in to unmask], The College Hockey Information List.
