I had the chance to see UVm and Miami this weekend. I noticed that UVm seems to favor attacking up their right side. They favored the right so much that I noticed it in the first period of the first game, then spent most of the next 5 periods counting making mental notes of which side they rushed up. With a few exceptions, they strongly favored the right, even setting power plays up to that side. The left point man's job was to take the puck and send it right back to the right point or the right corner. Vermont did get some goals from the left side via the "back door", but I'd guess that 80% of the shots came from their right (goalie's left). Miami didn't seem to show that tendency, rushing right, center, and left fairly equally. Even clearing passes and icing by Vermont went to the goalie's left side almost every time. Any UVm'ers with an explanation? Anyone else? I haven't noticed this degree of favoritism by any college team I've seen play. What are the general impressions of others who've seen UVm play?
