For any of you that may not have seen it, there is a relatively large article in USA Today on Baumgartner. Good to see some newsprint on our sport, also it includes a full picture and the guts of the story is that he is probably the youngest kid to play college hockey at 16 yrs 3 months. There are some comments from Craig Simpson who played for MSU at the age of 16 but turned 17 during his freshman campaign. Baumgartner sounds like a real talent, good size, experience, etc., not to mention brains as he is fluent in German, French, and English and is majoring in business, planning to finish in 3 yrs at Clarkson. Clarkson people, does that mean he plans on playing at the college level for a max of 3 yrs? The article talks about his Gretsky-like instincts and his move to Quebec at the age of 14 (from Europe) to play hockey in Canada (Quebec is still part of Canada, no? :-) Tony Buffa RPI '64 --- maybe a victory this weekend? HOCKEY-L is for discussion of college ice hockey; send information to [log in to unmask], The College Hockey Information List.
