Obviously, a very biased opinion. Munn Arena I would safely guess ranks in the
top third of all D1 programs, and probably top 10% of ALL arenas nationwide, as
far as parking, accessibility, view of the ice, restroom availability,
concessions, (aside from pressbox amenities, of which I have no opinion, but
the location is excellent, and seems to be large enough to accomodate TV and
radio broadcasts). Every seat, including student seating, is COMPLETELY sold
out on a season ticket basis BEFORE the start of the season, so visitor seating
is very limited, however, there is an allocation given to the away team.
True, it is a hole, but a hole in the GROUND, not the WALL, because the only
visible portion of the arena is the roof, which is tastefully decorated in
concrete and brick, surrounded by lots of trees and shrubs. It is a hole
because you go in at the TOP of the arena, and walk down to your seats (aka,
Michigan Stadium in football). It is dark, because they dim the house lights
once play has started, and keep the ice bright with "TV lights", so it may from
a first-time visitor's perspective, seem "dingy" lit (but not dingy dirty).
