After having watched UM v.CC and Denver v.UW on T.V. and UMD v. St. Cloud
live last weekend, it's clear that there are some talented Freshman in the
league. None was better than Brian Swanson of CC who looked as if he could
lead the league in scoring the way he was playing. I think he came from
Omaha of the USHL. I have no idea of how successful he was in this league.
SCSU have two excellent Freshman in Matt Cullen, and Sacha Molin. Cullen
can flat out play; he can skate, check, knows where players are can handle
the puck. I don't think he lost a faceoff. Molin looked very good, always
around the puck. UMD's Jason Haakstad and Max Wikman may or may not be
emerging as strong players, too early to tell. Haakstad appears fast on his
skates. Nothing special about Reg Berg or Eric Rasmussen of UM in their
first series. I draw a blank as far as Freshman at Denver and UW.
