Keep in mind, Illinois-Chicago did not play three or four of their normal star ters, this according to a classmate of mine who plays for the Flames. I think Pedrie (UIC head coach) was looking to save them for the Division I opener vs. Air Force 2 days later. The UIC-UIUC game was solely an exhibition game. Maybe if Pedrie played everyone and they skated like it was a game that counted, the margin probably would have been 10+ goals. Nothing against the Fighting Illini, I have seen them play, and they are indeed (last season at least) one of the best club teams in the nation. You just can't compare a club sport to NCAA Div. I. I hope one day they will put some m oney into the hockey program and make it into a Div. I team. I would love to see an inter UofI rivalry, like one that has started recently in basketball. I personally am pulling for both the Flames and the Illini this year, as usual. Best of luck to both! -Mark HOCKEY-L is for discussion of college ice hockey; send information to [log in to unmask], The College Hockey Information List.
