>A number of DI schools have scheduled games with Canadian college teams

This is undeniably the case. Canadian University teams are filled largely
with ex-Major Junior and Junior A players who couldn't make either the pros
or a U.S. College. That is why the players are often older on a CIAU team
than on an NCAA team. Players will play until they are 19- or 20-year-olds
in Junior and then go on to the CIAU.

And don't get me started on whether the Major Junior leagues are pro or
not. Personally, I always thought calling Major Junior pro was silly, but
as someone in Jr. A hockey I have to hope the rule stays. :-)

>Can anybody out there (Art???) think of players from Canadian colleges
>who've gone on to distinguished NHL careers?

There aren't many. Randy Gregg played at Alberta and had a long career with
Edmonton and Vancouver. Mike Ridley played at Manitoba and is now with
Vancouver. Stu Grimson (Anaheim) played at Regina. Steve Pappas (I think
that's it) played at Western Ontario, and is in his second year with
Anaheim.

That's all I can think of.

See you later,
John
