> 11/ /93 Illinois 9 Lake Forest 8

A last place team in the NCHA.

> 1/8/94 UW-Stout 6 St. Norbert 2

A next to last place team in the NCHA.

> 2/19/94 Penn State 4 Buffalo St. 3

Buffalo St. is actually a very good example against you. Two years ago, they
were a very good ACHA team. Then they moved up to the Div. III varsity level
in the SUNYAC. Although they have not embarassed themeselves, they have
struggled posting NCAA records of 4-11-4 and 4-18-3.

> 1/4/95 UW-Stout 4 Amherst 2

They only won 6 games last year and are near the bottom of the ECAC East.

> 1/6/95 Penn State 4 Mercyhurst 5 (OT)

Definitely an impressive performance.

> 2/10/95 UW-Stout 5 Hamline 1
> 2/16/95 UW-Stout 4 Hamline 3

A next to last place team in the MIAC which is considerable behind the NCHA.
The MIAC gets an automatic bid to the playoffs, but their representative is
always seeded last and almost always losses. Beating Hamline, who only had
4 victories last year, is no mean feat.

Let's see how they do against better teams:

Gustavus Adolpus - 6 UW-Stout - 2 (A .500 MIAC team.)
Bethel - 8 UW-Stout - 5 (Anything but a better team. They were dead last
Bethel - 2 UW-Stout - 2 in the MIAC with only 2 NCAA wins.)

> 2/17/95 Penn State 11 Scranton 1

NEVER, EVER compare anybody to Scranton! They are by far the worst hockey
team in all the land. They regularly get plasted by double digits (Buffalo
St. beat them last year 16-0!!), their goalie regularly faces 80-90 shots,
other teams actually stop shooting on their net in the third period because
the score gets so out of hand. They are so bad, that one year Cortland,
a .500 team, sent their JV team down to play them and still beat Scranton,
4-1! Using this as an example actually disproves your argument. :-)

The bottom line is club hockey is great for the schools, players, fans, and
the sport. And, it is certainly no surpise that it generates great
excitement on some campuses, after all hockey is a great sport, but in general
it cannot be compared to even the Div. II/III level.
