Right you are. The article describes how Jeff and I connected via the German Hockey Page, which has a 'players looking for teams' link (which had 3 players on it as of about a week ago). I represent and advise players in North America and Europe (including my brother Brian, Michigan Tech, 88' who plays in the top, DEL, league in Germany) so I contacted Jeff to try to help him. Given his statistics and the fact that he doesn't have (or seem to be qualified to obtain--unless, per chance, "Miss Right" comes along) a European passport, we have a challenging, but not necessarily impossible, job on our hands. Naturally, we are hoping that our tenacity and professionalism will pay off. In any event, as was noted, this is an interesting fusion of hockey with the internet. Of course, in terms of cyber activity, this hockey-l list has a distinguished, and relatively long history, I know I was on it while studying for my Ph.D. at Cornell a number of years ago. As many of you probably already know, though, there has been a more recent boom in hockey info on the WWW. The NHL and the NHLPA have pages. Each NHL team has anywhere from 2-6+ pages. Almost every minor pro team has a page and there are a bunch of college pages, too. In addition, there are, as referenced, German, UK, and other European pages. Also, there are there is a German list like this one, so I can get same-day game summaries at 5 pm our time (11 pm, their time). Amazing, considering our's was a once maligned sport trying to live down the image advanced by the movie "Slapshot" (which was partially filmed in my hometown of Clinton, NY). I meant to bring the article into work but recycled the paper by mistake. It was the June 5 issue and the article appears on page 4. The article goes on to state that the player stumbled across a page put out by the German league that mentioned opportunities to play there. Ralph Baer RPI '68, '70, '74
